  • The Lambley Fishings Beat

    ¾ mile double bank fishing with a further pool at Lambley viaduct. This is a very productive beat with several named pools for up to 4 rods. The beat produces on average 98 salmon and sea trout per season despite being only moderately fished. The South Tyne has very good fishing from the end of May onwards given decent rainfall. Salmon to 26 lbs are reported and sea trout into the low teens.

    The Birches

    A small sweeping pool which holds fish while they take a breather after negotiating the rapids below. Briches has steady flow and is easily fished, and is a good after a rise of water which would have encouraged fish to move up from the pool below.

    Madam's Pool

    Madam's Pool is a dramatic, deep-holding pool with a fine neck and steady glide near the tail. Salmon hold in here all summer and the tail end and neck are very good for sea trout too. In Autumn the pool is spectacular with its fine bank of deciduous trees and it can hold many fish.

    Jackie's Pool

    The winter floods mould Jackie’s pool into a new shape with different lies every year. 2010 was a great year with many fish caught as the flow was steady and a decent depth for the fish to lie. It is always excellent fly water and can be fished from either bank easily.

    Wallace Pool

    The Wallace Pool is a delight to fish and is dependably generous. It fishes in high to medium water and is easily fished from its grassy bank. The salmon hang close to edge so long casts are not needed. In summer this is a good pool for night time sea trout too.

    Home Pool

    The Home pool may be small but it is beautifully formed and can be prolific. It lies between two hard stretches of fast water so acts a resting place for running fish. It is a fast stream and fishes best in medium flow.

    Birkett's Pool

    Birkett’s is a gorgeous pool, with everything we could ask for and fishes well at all heights of fishable water. The secluded setting is glorious and a little hut gives time to reflect. From a tumultuous neck to a wide sweeping glide, this pool has the lot, including salmon and sea trout!
